Joe Biden has declared that he is running for re-election in 2024, aiming to "finish this job" and possibly setting up a rematch against Donald Trump.
In his campaign video, Biden warned that the US remains under threat from anti-democratic forces unleashed by his predecessor, whom he beat in 2020. Although he is already the oldest president, Biden would be 86 before the end of a second term, nearly a decade older than Ronald Reagan was when he left the White House. The president is dogged by low approval ratings and concerns about his age, but he plans to run on accomplishments secured in the first half of his presidency when Democrats had majorities in Congress. He is expected to be headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, and has chosen Julie Chávez Rodríguez, a senior White House adviser, to be his campaign manager.
