Partial Results for 2023 Presidential Election in Sierra Leone Announced



Today, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Mohamed Konneh, announced partial results for the 2023 presidential election in Sierra Leone. The ECSL conducted the elections in accordance with the Constitution of Sierra Leone and the Public Elections Act, adhering to the legal provisions to ensure a proper administration of the electoral process.

As the National Returning Officer, the ECSL has made public the partial results for the Presidential election, which represent 60 percent of the total polling stations' outcomes from each district. These results have been reviewed and cleared by the ECSL Result Management systems at Regional Tally Centres in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, and Port Loko.

The ECSL wants to assure the public that it is diligently working to process and release the remaining results in a timely manner. The commission remains committed to upholding the principles of a free, fair, and transparent election process.

Here are the names of the candidates and the valid votes cast for each:

NDA – BAH, Mohamed Chernoh – 14,820 SLPP – BIO, Julius Maada – 1,067,666 PDP – COKER, Prince – 4,136 CDP - JONJO, Mohamed – 1,663 UNPP – KABUTA, Saa Henry – 2,865 ADP – KAKAY, lye – 3,094 PLP – KAMARA. Nabieu Musa – 5,149 APC – KAMARA, Matthew Wilson Kamara – 793,751 PMDC- MARGAI, Charles Francis – 9,621 RUFP- Sankoh Abdulia Dougakoro – 4,780 NURP – SANDY, Jonathan Patrick – 943 UDP – SOWA-TURAY, Mohamed – 1,099 ReNIP- WILLIAMS, Beresford Victor – 1,807

These results represent a significant portion of the electoral process, and the ECSL will continue its efforts to complete the remaining results and provide the final outcome of the presidential election as soon as possible.
